Paying and ordering
Do you take cards?
No. We are cash only. No credit, no debit, no tap to pay. There is an ATM inside, so a card in your pocket is still fine, and some directory listings get this wrong. Bring cash and you will not have a problem.
Can I order online?
No. We take orders at the counter and over the phone at (262) 633-7816. For a party or a tray, you can build the whole order on our catering page and send it to us, and we will call you back to confirm the price and the time.
Do you deliver?
No, we do not deliver, and we are not on the delivery apps. Everything is pickup or eat in.
Are the prices on this website current?
Yes. Every price on our menu page comes from the board on our own wall. Other websites still list old prices from years ago that we have no control over. If you see a price for us somewhere else, this site is the one to trust. A few items are marked with an asterisk because we are still confirming them.
Do you take reservations?
No. Walk in, order at the counter and take any open table.
Finding us and eating here
Is this a restaurant or a grocery store?
Both, in the same building, through the same door. The kitchen and the dining room are on one side, and La Tapatía Súper Mercado is straight through the archway on the other. One family, one set of hours. See the market.
Can I sit down and eat?
Yes. It is a small room, only a few tables, and it is kept clean. Most people who order from us have never come inside, and there is a hand-painted mural on the back wall worth seeing. See dine in.
What are your hours?
7:00 AM to 12:00 AM, every single day. Seven days a week, holidays can change. The clock at the top of every page on this site counts down to whichever comes next, opening or closing.
Where do I park?
Street parking on Mead Street, right out front. We are the white brick building on the corner with the yellow awning and the door cut into the corner itself. Directions and a map.
¿Hablan español?
Sí. Pase, aquí lo atendemos en español, en persona y por teléfono. This whole website is in Spanish too, with the button in the menu bar.
The food
Do you serve breakfast?
Yes, from 7:00 AM every day, and almost nobody in Racine knows it. Chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, huevos a la mexicana, chorizo and egg, lengua in salsa verde. It is on the menu.
When do you have menudo?
Saturday and Sunday. By the half gallon and by the gallon, along with carnitas and barbacoa by the pound. It sells out, so call in the morning and we will hold one back. See the weekend.
Is there anything without meat?
Yes. Bean and cheese items, nopales, rice and beans, guacamole and chips. Everything on the menu lists what is in it, and if you are not sure, ask at the counter.
How spicy is the food?
Nothing arrives punishing. Heat comes from the salsa you add yourself, so tell us how you like it when you order.
Big orders
Do you cater?
Yes. Taco trays with any meat on the menu, tamales by the dozen, rice and beans by the pan, carnitas and barbacoa by the pound. Build exactly what you need on the catering page and send it over, or call.
How far ahead should I order?
The sooner the better, especially for a weekend. Call (262) 633-7816 and we will tell you honestly what we can do for your date.
How do I pay for a big order?
Cash when you pick it up. Nothing is charged up front and we do not take a card. We call you first to confirm the price so there are no surprises.
